about
The short version…
I was born in Australia on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people and this is where I live most of the time.
I’m a cis-gendered woman, white settler, and my ancestors come from the British Isles.
I’m a full-time PhD (anthropology) student and a part-time trainer, supervisor, psychotherapist, and maker.
A bit more detail…
Research
I’m a passionate learner and incredibly lucky to be currently undertaking a PhD.
My research is driven by, in Jane Bennett’s words (the Professor of Political Theory, not the Austin character), my “irrational love of matter” – I love things, thingness, and thing-power and I especially love wool!
Read more about my research here, and follow my PhD vlog @mywoollyphd.
Training
As well as learning, I also love teaching.
You can read more about my in-house training for organisations in Trauma-Informed Facilitation and Power-Informed Practice here.
All my current public training programs are offered through Australia New Zealand Process Oriented Psychology where I’m a faculty member.
Supervision
I provide clinical supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists.
I also provide supervision for group facilitators and coaches.
You can read more about supervision here.
Psychotherapy & Coaching
I am a registered clinical psychotherapist with PACFA and have been in private practice since 2013, with a focus on working with people with complex trauma, and socially marginalised identities/experiences.
I am no longer taking new therapy clients.
Making
I love making things. I do an average job of documenting my making on Instagram @lizmakingwith. Expect knitting, spinning, sewing, occasional wood carving, and a rare soap cameo.
